The up coming Earth Day, April 28, 2008 should become the turning point marking humanity’s growth and evolution out of the rut of the fossil fuel that brought us global warming and global warring, which we are all suffering from today. The Venus Project Foundation, our non-profit 501(c)(3) parent organization would like to offer an effective alternative to the “Carbon Footprint Offset” rampant these days.

I am sure we are all well aware of the “Carbon Footprint Offset” companies who in reality are increasingly making more money while the polluters continue to pollute. Global warming does not operate like a church, pay for your sins and go on to sin again. If we continue down this path, focused on making money off the Global disaster awaiting the humanity, nothing will ever change. What we need is simple practical and affordable solutions applicable on the street level for and by the citizens to learn and adopt. We, the Tree Huggers of America are focusing our efforts on finding and proving the said guidelines.

The basic idea of paying for one’s sins, or “Carbon Footprint Offset” is to figure out one’s personal, and or corporate pollution level of harmful pollutants, such as carbon dioxide, the principal greenhouse gas, causing Global Warming, 45% of which is stemming from power plant industry, and the rest is coming from individual activities such as driving, flying, lack of proper recycling and reuse methods, energy use and many unwise purchasing habits.

Purchasing "Carbon Footprint Offset"; is where one can aim to supposedly balance out one’s carbon footprint by purchasing carbon offsets. The offset purchase funds are to be used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, through funding clean wind and solar energy production. The big but is that there are no oversights and as it has been reported many of these Carbon Footprint Offset companies are in it to just make money.

A long the side of clean energy production, there must be tax cut programs at the local and federal level, plus subsidies and price reductions of solar panels to make it possible for home owners to take action, to effectively and truly reduce their carbon footprint. Carbon footprint offsets should be portrait as a personal responsibility for every single one of us to clean up and protect humanity and our one and only Home, Planet Earth.

We must all understand that the environmental consequences of our activities have already caught up with us and there is no more time to procrastinate. Unlike what is portrayed on almost all of the Environmental documentaries, Planet Earth is not in any danger, we are, after humanity destroyed itself, Planet Earth will recover, without any help from any of us.

The absolute truth is that WE, the humanity are in danger of annihilating ourselves. Please join us and help us, to help ourselves. Your contribution of time and tax-deductible funds could help us to work harder and better. Do what you can to spread the message of hope and possibilities.
